TV-Premiere "A High Pressure Pilot"

Our report "A High Pressure Pilot" premiered on October 21 for the SWR broadcast "Mensch Leute". The protagonist, the film team, editors and guests from the film and television business were all on hand at FABRIKATION to celebrate the latest film by Greb + Neckermann.

Jürgen Schütz is a helicopter pilot and an aerial daredevil. Whether it be a risky job to protect animals or a job for a power company, every deployment involves complete concentration: danger is always on standby. There is no routine in his line of work, because Jürgen Schütz is one of the few pilots in Germany who are on call for those kinds of airborne deployments.

"Being Rich, or How You Can Take It With You"
A short film written and played by Geoffrey Steinherz in the style of an American talkshow, with a 1960s hipster moderator who interviews Edgar Allan Poe about his pieces "Von Kempelen and His Discovery" and "Eldorado" in the form of a satire of the Goldrush. In a curiously lyrical way the two very different, very American worlds and epochs converge.
Concept, direction and production by Greb + Neckermann.

Poetry and Ballades Spoken by Christiane Zerda

97 and not the slightest bit tired – after diverse appearances through Germany over the years the actress extraordinaire Christiane Zerda is still directing theatre groups, giving theatrical and vocal instruction, and performing on her own as a teller of fairy tales and stage actress.
We were delighted to have an SRO crowd for her in the FABRIKATION, where Ms. Zerda led us through the world of Goethe, Schiller and Fontane. It was with the finest of feelings, gravity and humour that she recited poetry and ballades, with a discrete and appropriate accompaniment by Sarah Keßler on the grand piano.

The pilot and the saw
Exciting feature for the Südwestrundfunk television station
It looks dangerous and risky when the giant helicopter saw with its monster saw blades separates high tension lines from trees. Even the smallest movement of the helicopter affects the free swinging giant saw. The feature follows the pilot in his dangerous job, which in spite of storms and driving snow he would not exchange for any other job in the world.

A Handful of Fish – The Eel Catcher of the Rhine
In a co-production of hr Fernsehen and SWR, Greb + Neckermann produces a 30 minute portrait about a fisherman, a 60 minute longer version as well as an essay about fishing on the Rhine as the hardest of the cold weather jobs.
At 46, Dieter Stitz is the youngest among his colleagues. In addition to him there are only three more fishermen on the Rhine. A rare profession for nature lovers, mavericks and hardened men. He fishes every day, but the yield is meagre. And now his bread and butter fish, the eel, has been red listed. The film depicts the day to day battle of a lone combatant, from his tricks to thwart fish thieves to the planning of catch routes, to the search for a suitable buyer for his catch.

It’s finished - FABRIKATION is open for business in Wiesbaden

On March 23, 2010 Greb + Neckermann presented their new production facilities with an open house. Stephan Höfler also dedicated his brand-new sound studio and Thorsten Hinck opened his author’s office.
Creative minds from all areas of the media will be housed in the former “Schandua & Söhne” paper goods factory in Wiesbaden Biebrich. Film production, postproduction, sound studio, authors office and a graphics studio occupy a floor space of 1000 square meters in generously apportioned loft style spaces.
After the main tenant, an old, established printer, shut down operations, the facility was put up for sale in 2009, which prompted Greb + Neckermann to purchase the historically significant building with an eye to preserving and completely renovating it. In so doing a creative media location with well known clients from industry and television has been established. The mixture of unusual old industrial architecture ambiance in a creative environment in the middle of the Rhine-Main is a winning combination.
The building is old - FABRIKATION is new!

Living for the stage - reportage and magazine items for SWR

Greb + Neckermann produces 5 news items for the Landesschau local news programme. The wardrobe mistress, the make-up artist, a lighting technician, the leader of the orchestra and the stage manager are all filmed backstage in the Staatstheater Mainz during rehearsals for Richard Wagner's five and a half hour opera, "Parsifal". Viewers feel that they are giving everything to create something extraordinary.
Focusing on Hans-Erich Vincke, stage manager of the Mainz Staatstheater, the 30 minute film "Living for the stage" takes viewers into the amazing world of the theatre, giving them an insight into the feverish preparations for the production of "Parsifal". The stage manager is the most important person at a performance – forming the link between the director and the technical staff. Proof of the way in which all the different specialists all pull together, especially for the premiere of an opera, is provided when we see how they collaborate to meet this major challenge.

SUPRESA – Music video for arte and 3sat

Greb + Neckermann Filmproduction makes a hip music video for the Wiesbaden-based band Hotel Bossa Nova. The song is called "Supresa", Portuguese for 'surprise'. The music video will be broadcast on arte and 3sat to coincide with the launch of the album at the start of 2009.
The elaborate production communicates the melancholy feeling of the song in the form of a short story. It's all about a spontaneous party thrown to celebrate the return of a friend who had been away. The video paints this scene in bright colours, suffusing it with the feeling of the 60s and adding a dash of pensiveness and humour.
The four musicians - Liza da Costa, Alexander Sonntag, Wolfgang Stamm and Tilmann Höhn – drive around Wiesbaden at night in an old taxi, happy and in high spirits but also argumentative. The band featuring singer Liza da Costa also wants Greb + Neckermann to produce its next music video. Next time in Lisbon, though, where the band's roots are.
